Here at the frontier, the leaves fall like rain. Although my neighbors are all barbarians, and you, you are a thousand miles away, there are still two cups at my table.

Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn, a cool breeze in summer, snow in winter. If your mind isn't clouded by unnecessary things, this is the best season of your life.

Brightness of Snow

It snowed!

What does fresh snow make you think of? Haiku, of course!

Samui fuyu
Shiroi meigetsu
Yukiakari

Cold winter
White full moon
Brightness of snow

I just got back from Zurich with minus 10, this was how I felt:

Unforgiving cold and snow
A poet's passion
Tattered, shattered and shivered!

Ha! Very good.

The wind chill has been in the single digits F, but not lower than that.

Yesterday's 17-syllable haiku from the West Coast -

Title:
54 Degrees and Sunny

a bead of sweat forms
vege seeds beckoning me
may it continue
